View Full Version : under ice pvc pole
Do any of you use pvc poles for under ice fishing ?
We've been using them in Maine for about five years now and they work great.
I was able to get dead bait 170 feet under the ice today.
Just pvc conduit, spray foam and a rubber band.

never herd of such a thihg think you could get a pic on here and some details on to make and use it.
Use 1/2" or 3/4" pvc conduit, your choice. Put the hose on the spray foam can deep into the tube and put a small squirt in each end. Take the hose out cleanly so the conduit will come apart easily later. Wrap a rubber band around the tip of one.
Your opening day pole is made.
Connect them all together. Aim your fish pole where you want the pvc pole to go. Release your line. Loop your line near the bait. Slide a piece of the looped line under a rubber band strand on the end of the conduit. Slide your conduit under the ice without rolling it. Go out as far as you want to put on pieces. When you are where you want to be, wait a moment, then tug your line free. Gently pull the conduit back in and rent it out while you reel your fish in from a couple hundred feet under the ice.
