It is just around the corner of Willow bay to the reservation line. Maybe 500 yds as the crow flies. From there on up is res.

Some guys go up as far as the depth of the water will let them, some stay down in Pa. Just depends on where you happen to find them that day (or hour).

I was wondering how far that is because I only have a 25 hp motor.

Action, If you want, you "can" go as far as the I-86 bridge, where it becomes too shallow to go any further. It's up there ~10-12 miles. Most guys don't go that far. Your 25 will get you to fish. Some guys never leave Willow Bay.

You may also want to try launching at "friends" boat launch on the indian res. Its a few miles up the road from willow bay towards rte.86.

25 hp WILL BE FINE FOR A TOURNAMENT OUT OF WILLOW. YOU CAN FISN DECENT AREAS IN PENNSYLVANIA AND THE RESERVATION. THAT'S WHAT I HAVE ON MY BOAT AND I WILL BE FISHING THE DAV OUT OF IT THIS YEAR. I'M NOT SURE IF I WILL DO THE CHAMBER'S KINZUA KENNY THOUGH. IT'S A MIGHTY LONG RUN TO THE RES FROM WOLFE RUN WITH A SMALL BOAT. ALTHOUGH WE'VE DONE IT A FEW TIMES.IF YOU HAVE NEVER FISHED THE DAV BEFORE I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT. KAWA DOES A TERRIFIC JOB AT THIS EVENT AND THE PROCEEDS GO TO AN EXCELLENT CAUSE.

If I remember right Big fish of the day was caught right in Willow Bay. Not positive if it was the KAWA DAV tourny??? I just remember that the big fish was caught about 2-3 pm. just before weigh-in.

Does anybody remember that?

I agree with Swanee. I too run a 25hp (4stroke) on a 17.5 Smoker and fish the tournys out of Willow. Yeah, it takes a bit longer to get there- but the fish aren't in a hurry anyways!!! They're usually waiting for us when we get there. Come on May!!!!

Carl, if you would turn that boat around and go forwards, it wouldn't take so long!!!! lol.

Geez Ed- Isn't the square end the front? Maybe it would go faster with the pointy end!!!!!

Carl,
If it would make you feel more comfortable, point the boat the right way and you could just turn around and face backwards, lol. No wonder Ferbie always looks like she needs a beer when I go by you!
