i finally got a buck this morning. i got up in my tree a little late around 7 with outifshya 30 yards behind me. fianl;ly about 7:50 I spotted movement about 100 yards out. finally it picked its head up and seen a big fork but wasn't sure if he was legal or not. I started grunting and bleating to him and finally after about 10 mins he was coming my way. He stopped about 40 yards broadside but i still wasn't sure if he was legal because all my eyes could focus on was his big fork finally outifishya hit her can call behind me and he started coming to her but stopped after about 10 yards. She had no clue the buck was coming and i was praying she would use her can again but she never did finally he turned and started out one trail which goes 20 yards by me and straight to outfishya. at this time i could tell he is at least a 5 point not sure about any brows then about 35 yards he turns and starts to leave to i stood up and grunted and let my arrow go and it drilled him. i watched him run about 100 yards with my arrow sticking out his side before he disappeared so i got down and got outfishya and man was i ecstatic we went over and found the blood trail i thought I was a bit back but it was definitely a lung hit. we cam back home to wait for treerat to get home to go get him. i shot him at 8:15 and boy am I anxious to go get my first archery buck. pics soon to come after we go get him.

well we found him about 150 yards tracking job. it started out easy as pie then it got tough for a bit then he started spraying out again. We found him wrapped around a tree. It was a perfect quartering away shot. the arrow was sticking out both sides. This was my first archery buck so he is going to the taxidermist tonight. I measured him up for kicks he was 74.5 w/out deductions 61 with but i am happy as could be with this buck. hopefully treerat posts the pics soon.

Well I got home about 10:20 .Ratherbhuntin was here by 10:25 .. So off we go over to the farm he is hunting .On the way we saw a nice 8pt cross the road chasing a doe . We get to his stand and start tracking . The blood sign looks real good so we begin to follow .About 75yds out we loose the blood . Took a few minutes and we were back on the trail .The trail led another 75 yds to the dead buck . Congrats tj on your first archery buck . So it was picture time before field dressing job began .

RBH....the other day I said "I knew it could not be the lack of practice that you were missing deer as I saw you with the 1st place trophy you won at the club shoot".

Now here you are with another great trophy.

Congratulations on your first buck with a bow and a dandy at that. =D> \:D/ :thumbright:

waiting sucked but he was stiff as a board when we found him so he had to of died within seconds of being shot. i took out his liver and a lung. i am happy as can be that he broke the arrow because that arrow is cursed. i missed 4 deer with that same arrow and broadhead but i always continued to use it thank goodness i broke the curse finally :D Now it is time to go into full gear to get outfishya her first deer.
