View Full Version : Testing new equipment today

Picked Shauna up from school today (around 10am)
... she was coughing like crazy.
Dr said it wasnt athsma.. it was bad sinus drainage.
We went to Wal-Mart and bought her some meds and a new fishing rod.

Had to test that new set up out before we go to Lake Chautauqua this weekend, ya know?!??!

So... I tied on a black buzzbait for her. She caught 3 largemouth bass.
Here is the biggest one for her... it was 15 inches and 1 pound.
When it hit, she insisted her drag was not working, because she couldn't get the fish in. Then it jumped! I said.. hoho!!! You'r drag is working just fine, you have a big fish on! It was raining, so the pictures are so so.

(I also fished with Celeste's new Scooby rod.. had to run it through another test session before the trip as well... I too caught a bass.. it was smaller, but was still big.. maybe 13 inches)

Looks like you are going to have excellent weather for this weekend FisherMOM. Sounds like you have done all the testing so that all gear is ready to land the big'uns this weekend. Will call you tomorrow. Anything we can do to make your trip successful let me know.

Remember if you are planning on having breakfast at the Sugar Shack on Sunday morning you need to call and make a reservation. www.sugarshack1.com I spoke to owner Gail Black and she knows that you may be calling. One hell of a breakfast and one hell of a view! Right on the shore of Lake Erie.

Looks like we now have 3 great fishing ladies in that family..Last year it was only one that I needed to compete with and the little one kicked my butt. Oh whoa is me when we meet again :crybaby:

By the way that buzz bait would be a good thing to try over the weed holes in Chautauqua and around docks.

Nice job. The fish look very healthy. You might want to hang there more often.

Thanks Ya'll! Well Bill.. at least David won't be much competition for you.
He hasnt fished in over a year. :) Getting him his license tonight hopefully.
You watch, DAVID will catch the big one. But ya know what? He is the only one
in the family that needs that catch, that NEEDS that hookset. The rest of us
are already convinced that fishing rocks!

Hey OD... I used to hang here often, but the weeds were vicious this year.
This is the first time that I have had any luck at all in this pond this year.
A couple years ago I caught a big 18 inch bass here...
and have you ever seen that bass picture that I have of the BIG MOUTH?
I caught that fish here too... I know that I should fish the weeds,
and I did try a few times this year. But whenever I go fishing, my time
is so limited, that I don't feel like fighting with weeds.
Right now, the pond looks GREAT!
This was my second time this week to go to it.

I hear that there are Pike in here, but I have yet to see one.

Here are a few more pictures of this place and some of the fish.
oh, and this is where my girls caught their first carp.. I will
post that picture too. In it is Shauna with her first, and
Celeste is coming up behind her with her first carp!

Bass caught 10-08-04 at Turtle Pond.... WINDY DAY!

Celeste looking at her first carp!!!

me and my first fish this year! a carp!

My biggest Bass... 18 inch LM. Can't tell, but she was a bruiser!
Caught her on a live nightcrawler. She became tangled in the cattails..
I had to go in and ger her! It was awesome!
