Season Archery reports.

It would be nice to tell each other what we are seeing and what times and compare notes. Coalbed and i were sharing info for NY last year and i think we helped each other out a little Bit. I will reports what im seeing and i like just hearing what people are seeing from the stand. Be sure to share your kill with us as well. Just love the deer hunting stories behind every kill. Happy hunting Saturday.

Trail cams are pulled and treestands are set and its whacken time! Sat in the stand overlooking a corn field last night and seen 11 deer and 1 decent 8pt. Could not resist getting out and just watching. I have my big guy picked out just need to get him to move before dark. Saturday is almost here.

shot the Slick tricks this morning ;D Every thing is still in tune back to 40yds . ;D I will not shoot that far but its nice to see if the broad heads will hit the same as field points at that yardage . Gotta look the treestand over and make sure all the calls and such are still in the storage bags .
Might move my one lock on stand this week . I only hunted out of it once last season .Something about the comfort of my climber . Oh come on is it Saturday yet ;D

I couldn't wait for sat. So I went out to ohio with my cousin yesterday. I got to see 5 doe but nothing came within shooting range. My cousin whacked one about 330. But other than that it was a long and cool and wet day in the stand.

Checked on my last stand yesterday and walked up on a nice 7pt feeding on honeysuckle. It was real windy so he didn't hear me coming and the wind was in my face. Watched him for 10 minutes or so. Could have had many nice shot opportunities.

I am starting to freak a little. I haven't seen a buck since the snow melted this year. I have been all over creation this summer. Not even one running across the road. I am taking it as a sign that I am due. I have no clue where I will go Saturday. Have not seen a rub or scrape while out Sengin'. Apple orchards are mostly bare. Oaks are doing OK. I had 3 does coming to a spot most of spring and summer. Figured a buck will follow. Heard coyote howls out there each night. Now cannot find the does or their trails. Yotes have not been vocal any more. Could they have gotten all 3 and moved on? No doe tag again this year so will be looking for legal horns only. Found LOTS of turkey sign though. Going Friday night to one more secret orchard on top of the hill. Seems the hill top apples are the only ones producing this year and not many of them. If the trees there are producing, I will lock in a spot. If no apples there, most likely pick a random spot when I hop in the truck and let the force be with me.

J-K its a good idea. I'm in. If enough people share info it will be easy to see when
      those bucks really start cruising.

I have a few friends that disptach at the 911 centers and when I hear them start complaining about the increase for car vs. deer accidents I start sitting in the stands all day.

Got the bow off the rack for first time this season. Did all the pre checkout for wear or damage and waxed the string and cables. Might replace the rubber eyepiece tube tomorrow, but got extras in the field kit.

Could not even remember if pins were at 10 and 20 or was is 15 and 25. Set the target at 15. First shot, 1/2 inch right and 1/2 inch low. OK it is at 15. Went back to twenty, one shot dead center, 1.5 inches low. Good to go. Back to 25 yards for the remaining 14 shots. I did miss the bullseye once when I was moving my head around trying to get this smudge on my shooting glasses to not align with my sights. I touched it off while not in form. I missed by 3 inches high, 2 left, still a kill shot. But I would never do that when shooting a deer, just wasn't paying attention to the trigger finger while not aligning sights. So, last two shots, I like to practice snap shooting as lots of times ol buck don't stand around so long while I hold and aim and hold and aim and squeeze and hold and... you get the idea. Last two, I pull full draw and quickly acquire and touch it off. Both arrows nearly touching near dead center.

Enough practice. I have been doing this too long. I usually start out great, practice until my form falls apart. Wear out stuff on the bow. Then have to reserve the string or replace it night before season. Or maybe that shrink tubing on the arrow rest needs relaced and then the rest reset and bow paper tuned again. Totally blows my karmic oneness. It is much more important that I have good strength and muscle memory and a strong platform from which to shoot. I will continue the weight lifing and cable machines to increase the Traps and Deltoid strength while working on legs and back and abs for a strong foundation. Sharpening broadheads and hunting knife as you read this.

Dartons. You can't beat it. Tune it, shoot it, put it away, get it out anytime and just start shooting again. Only thing that ever needs tuned is the human body unless you break something or wear it out. This is the sixth straight year I have taken this thing off the rack and started shooting bulls from the very first arrow.

Now, please, sweet baby Jesus, lead me to the field where the bucks roam without care, are blind and deaf and don't smell very well, with any three legal points on one side. Amen.

Well i am official ready for Saturdays opener. Can't wait and the sleepless nights have already started. Today i shot off the back roof of my house a few times to try to simulate shooting out of a tree stand, and IMO it is a good practice scenerio. After the roof session was over, got on the ground and shot for awhile. I'm feeling pretty confident this year. With being unemployed i've had more time than ever to scout, and the area i am hunting is looking good. Got two bruisers in there as well as a few other shooter bucks as well. Will be posting reports as the season progresses..

Was out this morning and seen 4 doe, could have had back straps tonight but decided to hold off. Have been seeing some buck and did not want to disturb this area. I seen the 4 doe at 7.45. What a great morning! Will be back out tonight in the same area.

Saw nothing all morning. Saw 10 from 1PM to sundown. Couldn't put horns on anything.
