Last night I got a phone call asking if I knew of any fish shocking going on at the tailwaters? I answered "no". They then told me that when they got up there, there was a boat parked between the boil and the small island above the boat signs. They said it was zig zagging across the river. The boat had some cables hanging off the front with a guy in the front scooping up fish. So that indeed is an electroshocking boat. He said there was a tent set up on the 59 shore and the boat would take the fish over there..
Now yesterday on my way to work I drove past the country fair on PA ave. There were two boats in the parkinglot and one of them said "AQUATIC SURVEY" on the side. So I am going to put two and two together and say that the boats i saw yesterday morning were the same boats. Now my question is, what were they shocking for? Anyone know?
I seriously doubt it had anything to do with the walleye study for the simple fact that they do it in the fall, and it is being done by the fish comission. The vehicles towing the boats were not fish commission boats.

Having never been a huge fan of all black guns i decided to find a way to dress up my 11-87 thats my turkey gun. After doin some research i found the Shurshot stock on cheaperthandirt.com for 70$. Its realtree ap camo, pistol grip butt and standard forend.. based on the price and the look of it i decided to buy a new dress for the ol black beauty.. the parts were easy to install with the exception of using a dremel to remove some excess flashing from the forend to allow this gas cylinder ring to fit properly. The feel and control of this set is great. The buttpad that comes with it is softer than the original hard rubber pad that was on the gun. The end result is a comfortable feel and grip along with reduced felt recoil as well as a new look to an all black gun.. i give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Our National events are always scribed and posted so those who could not attend knew exactly what each dog did. here is the brace (we always run 2 at a time, pointing dogs should hunt independantly & honour" each other on point should they cross paths then) my boy ran in and me with the new collar I won:

Brace #17
B. Dock’s Hickory Run, male, Call Name “Hickory”, Handler: Bill Felins
... CH Zodiaks Desperado From Eagle Ridge, male, Call Name “Jesse”, Handler: Ann Spiegel
Coming off the line, both dogs went straight to business. “Hickory” elected to take the western edge off the line and out over the crest, while “Jesse” decided to take the eastern edge along the center ridge. “Hickory” was seen at 7 minutes on the southern switch grass edge, heading forward towards the wooded center course. “Jesse” was seen coming around the tree line from the East and hit the southern tree line, in response to his handler directing him where she wanted, having handled very well at distance. “Jesse” running this edge, snapped around into a high and stylish point at 16 minutes, on what proved to be a chukar that could be shot for a retrieve. The handler flushed the chukar, which turned back over the dog and head toward the trees. The gunners were able to make a very difficult shot and dropped the bird into the wooded cover. The handler released the stylish and mannerly dog for a quick and snappy retrieve to the heel position. With all in order,” Jesse” was moved East toward the wooded center course. “Jesse” quickly regained the front. As we moved North along the back course, “Hickory” was seen making game ahead and above “Jesse”, along the East/West road, though the back course, and promptly put the bird to air and was seen under the chukar at 23 minutes, but came back to deliver a quail to his handler on what his handler called…“an unauthorized retrieve”! “Jesse’s” handler took a very pro-active approach to keeping her dog clean and called him in, until “Hickory” was under his handler’s control. “Hickory” was picked up for his breach of manners. “Jesse” was then sent on to finish the course, hunting all of the likely objectives and edges that his handler directed him to, without further bird contact. As a note, “Jesse” and his handler demonstrated excellent team work throughout the course. “Jesse” responded to every cue he was given, and the handler took a very pro-active approach to moving him along the course. “Jesse” responded to every turn and cast asked of him.

My plan is to dig out the heavy gear and troll fast for big pike and tiger musky on the East Branch. Anybody been out there lately? Not sure if I want to drag the boat down from Instanter launch or hit the main launch at the lower end. I do OK in the East Branch Bay and Straight Creek. Got a big Muskie Killer Spinner and some giant sucker plugs and I don't even know the name of some of the goofy looking bent pike spoons and some big bodied lure that looks just like a baby pike. I am expecting to burn up some calories keeping the speed above 2.5 mph or faster looking for big, aggressive, toothy critters. My plan is to bring one back big enough to swallow a limit of my trout fishing buddies that are hitting the streams with flies. It is good to have a plan.

I live a half hour north of there so there is no way I'd miss it.It's also in the heart of the area that I trap coyotes. Anyone else going??????????????? I see that there is at least one person from PA. that will be there..............Darin Freeborough. Looks like he'll be kicking off the demos as he is first on the list. Who knows maybe I'll get a chance to meet up with him.
