    Phil,
That sounds like a great plan. 2 acres isnt small by any means. I think in your area a 2 acre plot will be a great draw for deer. I have been doing some research lately on trees as well. I am looking into some fast growing white oak hybrids that are supposed to grow really fast and produce acorns in 3-5 years. I think a foodplot mixed in with some oaks could be a deadly combo. Especially since you are building a pond! That would be an awesome setup! I am very lucky when it comes to equipment. My grandpa and I own 2 tractors, plows, discs, drags, brushog, 25 gal sprayer, a 4 wheeler and John Deere 350 C Dozer. So I have always had everything I need at my fingertips.

I put in a good size watering hole last year, and hopefully a full acre plus pond just as soon as the ground will dry up enough to get a good sized dozer in. I have been clearing out useless trees and have put in a few fruit trees. I would like to layout the property in a way that I can have a small 2 acre food plot surronded by some fruit and hard mast trees.

Are you renting equipment for your food plotting or are you luckey enough to have a farmer close by that is helping you?

Phil, I'll be sure and post or even do a blog on my food plot process. I am very excited to get started on this. I would be glad to stop up and check out your project. I am fairly busy until the springtime being that I am in Buffalo for Grad school. But as soon as the weather breaks we can set up a time and we can take a look. I am no expert but I do read up alot about this stuff and I do a fair amount of experience. What type of project are you working on. I vaguely remember reading something about it on here but refresh my memory please. Keep in touch.
