Round 2 of the "Disabled American Veterans Benefit Walleye Tournaments" will take place July 11th & 12th at Wolf Run Marina/Docksiders. www.kinzuamarina.com

This event is another classic tournament dedicated to supporting those who have sacrificed so much for ALL Americans.

This tournament is named after Charlie Brant & Tim Fields. Charlie is a Vietnam combat Vet and Tim is an Army Special Forces Vet. They started these tournaments to support & say thanks to our veterans.

OK time to post the time and date you think I will catch my first 20' or over walleye on Kinzua.

Winner will receive a $50 Gift Card at the business of their choice.

If you choose to say I WILL NOT catch a Walleye 20' or over at Kinzua you may do so. At contest end I will draw a winner from the list of negative scumbags!

You have till midnight May 1st to post your date & time or to post I will not catch a 20" or over eye on the Zoo.

This contest will run through May, Jun & July.

If someones date is correct and their time is within 1 minute of their time posted, I will make it a $500 gift card of the winners choice.

Kinzua Creek Dead?

I found this link after talking to some fishermen that were alarmed at the condition of Kinzua Creek. I fish there every year. I must admit that last year, I did not do nearly as well as previous years. No big deal, I have bad days sometimes. Can't say I really bothered to check the condition of the creek, I just figured I had a bad day or two and fished lots of other places. I have not gone down this year to personally check the creek condition out. But these folks from many areas, on a different forum, have posted their concerns and belief that the creek is dead and polluted.

I called PFBC and reported what I learned. They directed me to a number that I believe was the DEC and we discussed this at length. I told them I had not been there to verify what I was reading, but was quite concerned. They said they would send a field officer to investigate.

My plee to you, if you get to Kinzua Creek and notice pollution and lack of any signs of life, PLEASE CALL PFBC and report your findings. We need to get this solved if it is fact. I suspect drilling by the sounds of the reports. The ANF is being systematically destroyed and violations seem to be increasing while we the people are becoming used to this behaviour as normal and expected. Only if we become involved will this stop.

If the stream is found to be dead, a number of things may happen. First, they will not stock this beautiful area. The special regulations fishing area will be retired. Once the stream is declared dead, regulations for drilling and road building, etc. will be weakened. If there is no reason to protect the dead stream, permits to exploit the area become much easier to obtain. The devastation can continue unabated. Indeed, there are some rather hostile oil producers these days that are very aware of this. If they kill it, they might be fined, once. But it will be well worth the "investment" to kill the area so they may exploit what is left without further technicalities.

I would be very interested to hear what you locals and fishermen that visit the Kinzua and Mead Run creeks have to say about your observations of life in these waters.

2009 KINZUA HOT JIGHEAD COLOR FOR WALLEYE ???

Ah the Zoo (Kinzua) and those O so finicky Walleyes. Seems every year them eyes go nuts over a different jighead color. One year it is Glo-Pink, next year it is black and then white the next year. Then there is Flo-Orange. The only semi consistent jighead color for me has been the old standby Chartreuse.

Size wise the #1 producer has always been 1/8 th ouncers but there are years that 1/16th or 1/4 or even 1/32 seem to lite them eyes up more than any other.

My prediction for the hottest 2009 Walleye season jighead on Kinzua is..................................................................................................????????

A 1/8th oz. Flo-Orange jighead with a chartreuse Fuzz-Z-Grub body tipped with a leech.

This is the one that was on the infomercials a few years back with the weird guy who would say "set it and forget it". Anyways...

My wife got one of these this year for christmas from her parents. So far we have had our farm raised chicken and venison tender loin in it. Very good. Wife says it is easy to use and does a great job on the meat. The chicken was probably the best rotisserie chicken I have ever had.

I am looking forward to more good things coming out of this rotisserie oven.

The Disabled American Veterans Benefit Fish Fry & Dance will be held at the Russell VFD on February 28th 2009.

Doors open for social time at 5pm.
Senior Soda pops at VERY reasonable prices.
Various Horse Day Vores will be served
Dinner will be Walleye, Panfish Fish Fry with french fries, coleslaw & beans.
Dessert after dinner.
Dinner will be served at 6:30
Music by EJ-Z-DJ Sound Inc. with dancing starting approx. 7:30
50/50s through out the evening

All this for only $10 per person!

Proceeds benefit Disabled American Veterans.

Any who have attended in the past know the meal alone is well worth the money. You also know that donations for the Senior Sodas are very small.

Join us for a great meal, have fun & dance and all to benefit our Veterans.
