Contender Spoon bite

The boyz out on the west end of Erie are pounding the walleye with the Contenders but they have been catching me a mixed bag of fish here. Last weekend in one spot we got over top of walleye in the 40' range, brown trout 50-60 and lakers at 70-85! Ended up with 9 walleye, 2-8# browns and 3 lakers to 20#! The guys were so whipped fighting those lakers they told me not to put anymore baits in the laker range!

5 of 9 walleye, both browns and 3 lakers came on the Boo Berry pattern.
I figure that I am drafting about 2 to 4 inches in my jet boat when at top speed. It sure makes the butt pucker up though when you look over the side of the boat and see ankle deep water. A friend of mine built a pitch fork like devise that he had mounted on his prop motor. After he put this on his theory was "let her dig".

one thing you have to commend her for....notice the trigger finger extended straight outside the trigger guard. Off the trigger until ready to shoot. Must of had some training. The mag on the other hand....but in an intesive firefight, I bet she isn't the first one to do it. I only hope she didn't pull it out of the vehicle like that.

It's great to be home.

Just got back from Little Rock Ark, and man am I glad to be home. Some pretty intensive training. We started with 29 and graduated 23 people. Tough standards to follow if you want to be an instructor, and some couldn't cut it. We have to shoot first thing we get there and shoot the standard Army Q target. 45 out of 50 or you go home. 2 did. Next is the PT test. Pass or go home...1 did. That was just the first 4 hours. The next 2 days we completed the Beretta Armorers course. Great stuff to be learned there and I have a new respect and knowledge for the M-9, or Beretta 92 series pistol. Then we spent time learning to be instructors, learning to shoot like instructors, learning to run a range and shoot, shoot, shoot some more....Awesome. We completed one course of fire in total darkness. Reloads, loading mags, course of fire all with no or minimal light, and no "accidental" discharges. Yes they are avoidable. I walked away tired, happy and glad to get home and a certified Federal Law Enforcement firearms instructor.... 16 days in a row of the Golden Corral for dinner and I don't care if I ever go there again. Hospital food for lunch, and I am just dying for some home cooked grub. And my wife really missed me too.....some things you can only get at home

unless you are going to lime, till, disc, rake, ensure your seed is planted to the specific depth and kill and maintain against weed growth, I would go with a no plow type of mix. From personal experience I would avoid the throw and grow as it 90 %
Forage Tetraploid Ryegrass, which basically provides nothing nutrional at all to the deer, other that it attracts them in to what else is in the mix. We had a few turnips in the mix and the deer hit them hard, but it should be closer to a 50-50 mix. I would recommend Imperial no-plow. Here's a link:

RE: Accidental gun discharge

very rarely does a gun discharge "accidently" Most firearms accidental discharges result in a finger on the trigger. I just got back from an intensive firearms instructor course and in the past 17 days we fired a thousand rounds each times 23 instructors. 23,000 rounds fired and not one accidental discharge and not one anticipated round fired by not listening to the range commands. I realize that not everyone has the training that I do but unless your shooting grandpas old shotgun which probably should be checked out by a competent gunsmith, mechanical malfunctions are a rarety. I carry a Beretta 92 D which is equipped with 3 safeties. A Glock has 3 safeties. If one does not place a finger on the trigger until such time that one is ready to safely engage a target, has the muzzle placed in a safe direction, verifies his target and what lies beyond, I don't believe an "accidental" discharge is to likely.

Hmmm, I think the treaties we made with the folks we pushed out to claim this land should last as long as the U.S. Constitution.

But the treaties we made with other countries should seriously be revisisted or just absolved in some cases.

But what specific points did you have in mind?

Taxing Native Americans that are PURE Native Americans, NO. But if your jumping in and mixing up the gene pool, then you lost your claim to Native, you are just American with a mix as most of us are, pay up.

It varies year by year j-k. It is my hope to hit Penns woods at least 4 or 5 times and the same number for NY archery. As stated Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays are best for me. I will also say that I generally hunt the afternoon hours.

These are all just generalizations though. Sometimes an opportunity to hunt arises and you take it.

Especially for them Steelies.

You bring 12 Walleyes and 5 Steelhead to the scales each day. 10 points per fish and 1 point per pound. So to win you need 12 good eyes and for sure them 5 Steelhead.

Team Grizzly expects to win! We are up against these Charter Captains with $100,000 + boats. It's David vs. Goliath!! It is my hope that these Contender Spoons ar our slingshot to VICTORY!!!

How's that for pressure OSDave!!
