One place was only about 8 feet, it was sort of like a ground blind tree stand combo. That was SWEEET!!!!!!!!!!
all of my sets are in Hemlocks, don't need to go too high...usually 10-15' at most

I think your right I will see if I can figure out how to edit my poll to add your type of hunting. Thus far the poll is split up the way I thought it would be

I like being up high were I can see everything, there aint notin worse than sitting in a ground blind and hearing stuff thats about ten yds away and not beeing able to see it. although the good thing about ground blinds is close incounters, last year I had a herd of 8 deer out in front of me, ended up getting busted when a doe got to close but it was realy fun.

I do both- whatever is needed. Archery is mostly tree stands over food sources, gun season (if needed) NEVER in a tree, always from the ground-not necessary in my area. Archery during rut- mainly from the ground, calling and rattling while travelling. Never do I go over 15 ft high. I have 7 homemade portable tree stands, 5 homemade hang ons and 2 ladder stands, also homemade. I also quit using climbing stands many years ago, I use climbing sticks instead. Made them up from litewall 1" sq tubing. All are 3 pc sections of 5', 15 ft long when assembled. Easier than a climber and way quieter. Can be set up in 5 mins. Last year's archery buck was # 39 for me- not gonna change my style or tactics now!!!!
