Just wanted to bring this back to the top.....As of now i'm planning on attending
Just another add to this post is that in an article in the Warren Times Observer today it stated this meeting starts at 6:00pm tonight. Gary had posted earlier that it started at 7:30pm.......Here is the qoute from the paper. Pennsylvania
Game
Commission,
Ralph Martone,
representing
the
Northwest Region,
will be on
hand this
e v e n i n g ,
T h u r s d a y ,
March11, at Brokenstraw
Fish and Game Club. It will
get underway at 6:00 p.m.
I spoke to the Vice Chair today after reading the article myself. He told me doors open at 6 and meeting at 7:30 and he was unsure why the hours were stated in the article that way.
Mr. Bleech did an excellent article and I am sure we will have a full house.
Bottom line for me is that I am going out the door now and will be there shortly.

Im not able to attend! Wish i could, kids, work, and there is during the week thing to deal with! Wish it was on a weekend. But my voice was herd through a E mail and also letters! I also recieved a post card in the mail stating im going to recieve a survey through the mail. Looking Forward to filling that out! Have a good time to those who can attend!
The Browns will win the Superbowl in 2011!
well how did it go??? I hope everyone was civil to the poor guy.
bass or walleye? no question BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well it went pretty good i would say,Mr Martone walked outta there alive. I was kinda surprised there wasn't a better turn out for this event. I mean there were people there but i figured it would've been standing room only. Gary was the moderator, who read questions people had pre written. IMO Mr Martone answered all questions fairly weather it was what people wanted to hear or not. He seemed very interested in our concerns and is willing to make things improve........
Good to hear it was a positive meeting. What kind of questions were asked?

sorry it took me so long to get back here, still havein puter trouble...
I thought it was a good meeting as well. I agree with Summers, I was dissappointed with the turnout as well. I would also like to say that I was very disappointed that there were only 3 of us in attendance that were under 40years old. And noone under 30. Its sad that everyone has something to b!tch about but cant stand up when it matters. I thank Mr Martone for answering my questions and taking the time to listen to those of us that were there.
I asked why mentored youth have to wait for a buck when IMO they should be able to harvest a doe OR buck with 1 either sex tag per season..
answer.."Legislation is waiting to be signed to allow parents and mentors to sign doe tags over to youth" Mr Martone is very interested in anything we can do to get more kids involved.
+++++
I also asked about a pheasant stamp..
Mr Martone does not support a phez stamp and doesnt see one happening anytime in the future. He feels that we shouldnt have to pay for game...They are tring to bring back wild Phez in a few zones and expects that propgram to expand.
I did not rebuke, but my opinion is, why then does the PFBC charge for a trout stamp??? Simple, its Put and take just like the pen raised phez charge us for a stamp and put the money to getting more pheasants into the wild. Start stocking NOW in the spring and give the birds a chance to survive before hunting season and winter.
My last question was on Sunday hunting. Mr Martone is in huge favor of Sunday hunting but there is no big push right now.
Things that we outta look for in the next couple years are 3pts to a side statewide no 4pt areas....
Split rifle season similar to central PA, 2G for ex.
Increased archery bear opportunities...
DMAP tags will be taken off the top of antlerless allocations instead of added to them.
SHUT UP and HUNT!!!!!
sounds like it was a good meeting. I am in favor of longer bear seasons, sunday hunting, phez stamps, why do we have to pay for an extra turkey tag?, do not like the split doe season,I think it should be extended. this is why, the longer guys have to hunt the more selective they are, fewer button bucks shot. Also I would like to see expanded fisher, and bobcat options. Been working near b-ford, a lot of woods kitties in that area, also saw alot of fysher tracks.
Kill R Call'n
Coalbed, I feel alot of people dont give a chit any more. Its sad to say that but i feel this meeting was a couple of years late. Hell, im even at the end of my hunting days. With all of my family leaving the sport its just not the same for me. I can still shoot my bow at the club and have fun!
The Browns will win the Superbowl in 2011!
The longer archery bear season sounds great. Would love to take a bear with my bow. Just can't ever seem to get to camp for those two days.
Well look forward to a whole week of bear archery this fall..
And there are soem changes being proposed to cat season as well. I have read arcticles regarding both recently.
SHUT UP and HUNT!!!!!
Now that is a smart move and always the way it should have been. I have no proof but have always suspected many of those DMAP tags got used outside their designated areas. Talking to some hunters, they claimed to not even know they were restricted to the area of issue. And several of those DMAP areas I hunt really once needed it. But since they were successful for so many years, they are not needed there any longer, but it obviously was not being reviewed before just issueing the same tags for the same areas. I like this proposal, I hope it is implemented.

I too don't like the split seasons for the same reason Limbhanger states. I am very selective on filling my doe tag unlike when I had only three days. Back then on the last day it was shot the moment it was determined to be legal if it was a button buck or a small doe bummer. With these seasons the way they are I love it I can wait for the doe I want when I want and that is usually the last week. I haven't shot a button buck since we went to the 2 weeks concurrent. Bummer if they put it to a split season.
bass or walleye? no question BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think everyone can still be selective on what doe they shoot! Why do you need a split season to do so??
The Browns will win the Superbowl in 2011!
I'm against the split season, if your post is directed at me. A longer period gives you more opportunities to pick one out that is an easy shot, an easy drag, and a definite doe and not a button. After the first day I usually shoot the first big fat doe I see , taking away the first week just puts a little more pressure on the hunter to fill his/her tag in a smaller window. Maybe they have good reasons for this. I don't know. I know I would love to see an inline season directly after our regular deer season, just like NY. Only for one week and end on Saturday after regular gun season. It would extend the opportunties for filling a tag and give another Saturday to deer hunters.
bass or walleye? no question BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I would have thought to ask about including inlines in the late season..Would have been a good question, imo.
I know there are many traditional guys out there who would be upset, but think its a good move to make.
SHUT UP and HUNT!!!!!
Thanks to Mr. Martone for visiting us & sharing his info & opinions.
I also was disappointed in the number of folks, folks under 40, folks under 30 who attended this most informative meeting.
I was shocked by the number of topics/ qustions that were asked & discussed.
No crossbow questions or complaints?!
No late season in-line muzzleloader questions?!
Nobody really bit**ed about antler restrictions?!
Just to name a few.
So bottom line for me????? DON'T BIT** TO ME AT THE BAR IF YOU DID NOT ATTEND THIS MEETING!!!!!
