I would like to go bass fishing some time but John always forgets to call me....
Thanks!
That was one of my favorite days afield in recent years.
Early squirrel season gives you the opportunity to catch the long daylight hours, and farm ponds (my favorite fishing haunts) are normally surrounded by good squirrel habitat.
Get there early, and bust a few bushytails with a pot-filler. The .22/.410 is the best of that line ever imagined. Then, once the squirrel action dies off, grab the ultralight spin rig, a few good spinners, or some natural bait, and nail your fill of bass and bream. In farm ponds, it's always catch-and-keep with any size, since stunting due to overpopulation is a constant danger and an eventual guarantee. If you need a few more squirrels, get on them again in the mid-late afternoon, clean everything, catch a few more bass and bream right at dusk, and catfishing is a wonderful use of fish and squirrel entrails.
I can't wait for this June's squirrel season in VA. A posse is coming together for a long weekend trip, and it should result in some FINE eating, and better times.
June squirrel season???? Huh...I like the idea!

bass or walleye? no question BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!
i agree not many posts on this topic. i fish the zoo for bass and pike mostly and have more succes on them . it seems walleye is king for most people in this area.
These are the best tasting fish. Bull Gills 1lb'ers
Picture.....YUM!
As I said there are a ton of hot Bass spots in our area. Kinzua kicks up with a ton of fighting smallies. Chautauqua = Bass. Lake Erie ain't no Bass slouch. And the Allegheny River produces some fine smallie action. Plus there are many more.
That's why I posted this cause i thought sure there would be a great deal more Bass talk than there has been. I guess slow and steady wins the race.
So, keep it up folks and thanks!

Will be doing some NB Susquehanna cold water fishing soon. I look forward to throwin' some jigs and flies. Hopefully the iceburgs will get off the water soon. I'm itching for some smallie action.
www.jjsjigs.com we are the language of bass.
Since I post a lot with photos, most of my bass posts are down in the photo section. The NB of the Susky is on the rise now with muddy water from the snow melt off but the bite is on the rise. Hair jigs are out preforming plastics because of the cold water and JJ's are the best I've used.(including my own)LOL
