    Been pondering this a bit....

Though a lefty would be cool I'd have to consider the real possibility that IF something went wrong with it, fix and repair might be a little difficult.

Especially under certain circumstances the weapon might be needed for.

Thinking a RH milspec unit would be more sensible in that regard.

Damn, why did I ever let those two Colts go down the road.............

You let those two Colts go down the road, because you did and thought it right at the time. And, neither were M4ish, IIRC.

Oh well, similar can be sourced again.

Per our conversation this morning, the RH is the way to go, IMHO.

Besides, it can always get passed down when a Colt is found for the right coin again.

Now...how difficult would it be to shoot a RH model...if you are a lefty?

I have shot LH before and it wasn't too difficult, but I am very comfortable shooting RH...and might have a difficult time switching that up.

It's easier for a LH shooter to learn RH than the reverse. I was a LH shooter growing up, taught myself RH, qualified both LH and RH in the USMC, and can still manage to do plenty well either side.

RH gives you FAR more options.

I have noticed many firearms ONLY coming in RH...or at the very least...LH models being difficult to find.

I especially enjoy my ithaca 20 gauge that ejects shells from the bottom...my LH bro-in law can shoot it with no issues.

I'm ambidextrous, but choose my strong hand as primary.

Per shooting a RH AR left handed:

Charging handle is a non issue.

Bolt release is wrong sided, as is forward assist and mag release, but that trifecta is easily AIO with a little practice.

A right handed safety is manipulated via trigger finger instead of thumb, but IIRC, an ambi safety can be installed to make that too a non issue.

Sighting and general ergonomics are all ambidextrous, which leaves only ejection issues, and I've yet to find that a huge problem with ARs............

Cool...yea, I guess ejection is really the biggest issue with that...just wasn't sure how much of an issue that might present with the AR.

Ran three 30 round mags through it Sunday, never a hiccup....

Took all of 2 rounds to find a "zero" at 50 yards, two more to confirm, and then another three to move it dead on at 100, with the turreted 2X7 Leupold.

Shot a 5 round "group" into sub 25 cent size at 100 when comfy with the turret settings, and figured the cross wires cover at least that.

The rest was offhand and kneeling into 150 yard steel by the three of us, myself, Jon, and MuleHell.

Misses were rare, and once the trigger was learned by all, were none...

We'll stretch it out yonder, soon..............

Which is why the one pictured is a Lefty Model Stag Arms.

Note too, the brass catcher, home made BTW. (Yes sir, I CAN run a sewing machine too)

MUCH better than policing brass in the mud, cow/sheep turds, and snow..........

Thanks for taking the pics M....

I know I was tickled to death to be shooting in shirt sleeves on Sunday, let alone getting the M4 sighted in, and getting the 9X sighted in on the 6-08AI.

I know Jon was just glad to trip triggers, and he LOVES Big Sexy.....

And, how many times on Monday did you tell me you had a good time?

    Four, IIRC............

We were just piddling around there at 500 yards, wait until we move back to 700, and then wait until Sam and me get 1K+ set up over there.

THEN you'll see what fun is all about...........

They toured the Stag Arms shop on the Outdoor channel last night. It was pretty neat.

Hooking him on any rifle isn't hard, nor surprising......

He'll test drive ANYTHING, do it in stride, and likely come asking for more ammo.
