    Default Open carry/police encounter

    Part 1

    Part 2

    Part 3

Funny when police think a black powder pistol needs to be registered.

I haven't watched the video yet because I'm at work but it's amazing how few people know the laws regarding open carrying in Pennsylvania. You can read some of their stories with LEOs as well as ordinary citizens on the PAFOA Open Carry forum.

By the way, for those who are genuinely interested in the laws (both concealed carry and open carry) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, there's a great flyer you can read and/or print out HERE. You may be surprised at what you don't know (or what you thought you knew that wasn't accurate).

Funny that you think you know what you are talking about....In Ny State, if the owner never intends to fire the pistol , then he does not have to register it. If it is loaded or the owner has in his possession the components to load the pistol then it MUST be registered on the owner'spistol permit. I know you think you know everything, so here is a link to the NY State Police website that spells it all out for you....

for those that are wondering, every state probably has it's own laws on the subject, so checks your states requirements first. I know NY states law on it and my post is reflected as such....not a blanket statement that could possibly steer one the wrong direction....just another blanket attack on law enforcement by...oh never mind.

Who cares about NY state? It's not even part of the Union as far as I'm concerned...they don't recognize the Constitution, we shouldn't recognize them as a state. The officer in the video is stupid for thinking that the black powder pistol needs to be registered. They are in the U.S, not New York,.

Well Clair....who cares about your opinion of some stupid you tube video....kinda one sided isn't it. Also kind of irresponsible to those on the web that may read this and actually believe you when you say that a black powder pistol doesn't have to be registered. It's 2010, your internet ramblings extend further than your little hamlet of Bradford PA.

I take severe offense to your comment that we should not recognize New York STATE as a state, yet we should recognize the COMMONWEALTH of Pennsylvania as a state...

Get off it dude...they are all states...NY does not go back on the constitution...yes, they are ridiculous with some of the laws and policies...and I don't want to live in NY forever, but don't go around saying that she shouldn't be recognized as a state...

    That is obsurd

Take severe offense? Are you going to lose sleep over it? A mostly facetious statement about NY's ridiculous gun control laws severely offends you? That's hilarious.

Den: Stop being a drama queen. The state in question is Tennessee, and anyone with half a brain could put that together by just looking at the video description. No one in that video cares about what NY does for pistols. It's hilarious that a cop in Tennessee thinks that a black powder pistol in Tennessee needs to be registered. Using your logic, should I be reprimanded for saying that semi-auto rifles are legal, even though they're illegal in England?

What makes you think that anyone here cares about Tennessee? Just another way for you to attack law enforcement and authority in general. Maybe I should start posting you tube videos of stupid college student videos...I bet I find alot more.....

Or to bring up the fact that very few in law enforcement are completely up to speed regarding concealed and open carry? It's true. Deal with it.

I've watched enough videos of, read enough accounts of, and have had enough personal experience to come to my conclusion. Most police officers know very little about firearms laws, except that they think they're empowered to imprison/harass someone simply for having a firearm. I saw an episode of Cops where a citizen was being grilled for carrying a concealed pistol even after showing his CCW permit! (Ie: are you looking for trouble? is someone ****ed off at you? why do you need to carry a gun?)

You have a preconceived notion that I'm out to get cops and am anti-authority. You're only making a fool of yourself in holding that entirely untrue notion.

Define very few. You're talking out your azz based on a few vids and what you probably consider to be an extensive personal experience. How many LEOs are operating in the USA on a daily basis? How many deal with concealed carry issues everyday in the correct manner?

Your previous statement is far from true. Deal with it.

Tell ya what, Clair, why don't you educate us on carry laws in NY State. Or, in Tennessee.

Feel free to rattle of the complexity of those laws, and how/where PA's laws contrast.

An example of one (idiot cop) does not a trend make.

BTW - your logic is flawed. Tennessee, NY, and PA are states within the United States. England is a foreign country. I could give you a better analogy, but it'd likely not sink in as to why.

Funny when police think a black powder pistol needs to be registered.
Oh, and FWIW, Clair, in some jurisdictions, BP handguns do need to be registered.

Just as a point of clarification, prior to your edification on carry and firearms laws in the several states.

    Carry on.
