Nice Pics! Are you using live Bait??
The Browns will win the Superbowl in 2011!
the start of the genesee river is just a couple miles from my house in ulysses. and no i never use live bait for trout. they were all caught on a white spinner.
Love the color of those fish.........
alot of things affect color. these fish are wild which has alot to do with it and another big thing is these are german browns where as you guys prolly get more loc-leven browns which are more silver in color
I thought trout season wasn't open? How do you get them now?

hmmmm that is a good question. perhaps the seasons are different or something

this is a special exception. most special regs and any water that is not an aproved trout water or not a class A stream are open to fishing year around.
there are lots of streams down here that are open to fishing 365 days a year . so basicly any water that is not listed in the book is open to fishing year round and special regs such as catch and release are open year round.
Most people dont know about some of these streams that have these big fish in them.
yep a stream that is not considered as an approved trout stream and doesn't get stocked by the state is open year round c&r. that's the beauty of small mountain streams full of natives.
the biggest thing with hatchery browns is that they are mixed
yeah I guarentee that the two picks above are mixed. just the one looks mostly german and the other looks mostly loc- leven.. no real way to abosuluty say exactly what they are. I can only call them that guessing that they are that by the way they look.
Beautiful fish RBH, congrats!!!!
Cool. Thanks for the info!

easy way to tell germans is they have black and brown spots, loch-levens only have black spots.
So to be clear, here in McKean county, a stream that runs into Lewis Run or the upper branches of the Tuna Creek, which is not stocked or as I know a class A stream or approved trout water .... I can fish that now for trout and catch and keep them?
I need to make absolutely sure, since I'm itching to get out there .... maybe even this afternoon!
Stony as long as its not a class A or listed as an aproved trout stream you can fish it. and of course all fish must be released.
Class A can be fished all year . catch and release from labor day until opening day . here is a link from fish commision site that explains this some what
