What are the advantages of a Sig over the Glock?
What are the advantages of a Sig over the Glock?
Accuracy, ergonomics (for most folks), weight, SA option, and de****er.
In favor of the Glock: simplicity, weight (lighter), DAO, power potential (if you go to 10mm).
Either is superb, and I've owned/shot nearly everything that both produces.
For my money, the only Glock that I'd run by choice is the G20/G29 10mm; with the SIGs taking preference in a head-to-head between just those two in every other caliber (9x19, .40S&W, .357SIG, .45ACP), UNLESS lightweight/concealment is THE paramount concern, where the G26/G27/G33/G36 win out.

The SIG 250 is DOA, no de****er......
Ambi slide release, left or right mag release.
My study of it today noted it to being VERY simple in design, would need to see it side by side with a Glock, disassembled, to see the differences.
Power Potential? One gun three calibers, take your pick.
A barrel swap would take all of about 90 seconds........
Would guess it comparable in weight to Glock of same frame size.
The sub compact frame/barrel with this combo would be VERY EASILY concealable........

I need to look at both. A gunshow is callin
WW:
The Glock wins on power potential, only with the G20/G29 10mm; everything else is common across the platforms.
The ambi-ness is intriguing. Why do I think that I'll be paying more close attention to the 250 at the show this weekend (assuming that I go, and that's a good bet).
The Glocks screw me on the ambi-ness, as does all the other SIGS.
The 250 must have been designed with me in mind...........
I have carried the Glock23, Glock 22, the Beretta 92 FS, the Beretta 96 G and currently the Beretta 92 D. With me I rely on my sidearm everyday to possibly save my bacon....I love the Glock and I actually like my 92 D. The trigger pull set by my agency as a safety feature is 9-11 lbs and also has a magazine disconnect. I can't stand a de****er or a manual safety. The 96 G would not stay on safe after it is de****ed, which was better. The 92 D is DAO, much to my preference. Also why I like Glocks, although not a true double action, I believe they are "safe action". Just unholster and pull the trigger. I rely heavily on my trigger skills with the 92-D and don't find the trigger a problem at all on it. Practice like you fight and one can become skilled in most any handgun.....
When pistol shopping don't forget to look at the Springfield XD too. I have one in .45 and just traded yesterday for one of the subcompact's in 9mm. They fit my hand and feel much, much better than the Glock. The subcompact also has extension on one of the magazines that makes it much easier for someone with big hands like me to grip the gun.
Handled a SIG P250 yesterday.
Neat concept, but I was not overly impressed.
The fire control mechanism is interchangeable, and it's the registered firearm, but you can't just buy another FCM, from what I can find. So, you get one live pistol, and one dead one. No idea how the swapping from platform to platform will affect the FCM or the platforms long term, and well, it just didn't "speak to me". HORRIBLE trigger pull, though (Kel-Tec P11-esque, though a bit lighter). Rumor has it (Massad Ayoob posted rumor, so likely quite true) that SIG is working on a striker fired version to resolve this issue and make it marketable to LE agencies that require striker fired.
FWIW, in the ambi world, the 4th Gen Glock has a reversible mag release, making that ambi-capable now. As for slide release, I tried mine again last night, and all you have to do is just insert the magazine with a little oomph, and the slide goes right on home.
Anyway, the P250 looks like a neat concept, it handled well enough, and felt good in the hand.

Sorry, but Glocks just do not horn me up..............
The two different 250's I've handled have had very acceptable DAO trigger pull, MUCH lighter than the keltec I'm now carrying, surprisingly/refreshingly lighter as a matter of fact. That translates into better hits on target by anyone's standards.
Per what you've argued as one live pistol and one dead one, you are arguing against the concept of having the swap-a-doodle-do between a large frame and a sub compact, with same caliber, same mags, same trigger pull. Wanting/needing two guns that both go bang is also quite a different thing than wanting/needing a combo kit that offers the swap between a large frame and a compact frame should that too suit one's fancy. I like Budweiser too when there's no Coors, you say it's garbage. You love your Ford and I'd never own another one of the damned things......
An ambi mag release to me is a deal breaker, as is an ambi slide release. Guessing I would figure it a heavy strike against a Glock to have the slide slam home via a little more effort on the mag insertion. I'm more of the sort that wants 100% total control over my tools and I sure don't want my M4, my keltec, the FN, or any other auto loader's bolt to slam home without my saying it's time to happen.
Still in the market for a purpose specific handgun, and haven't committed yet, though the 250 gets heavy consideration. The M85 Combat is still on my mind as well, and look forward to the Roanoke Show to fondle the CZ's a bit.
Though I much dig quality gear, a handgun to me is just a last ditch effort you must attempt to make to dig yourself out of something that you should have won three minutes ago with a rifle............
Look at the XD's they are ambidextrous and all.
there's always a 2.5 inch Model 19 S&W....
The word I got back was "if it feels right to him he can't go wrong". He's been impressed with them on the range. FWIW, I fingered one at the fun store to see what I thought. I liked the ergos (no surprise as I like Sigs) and could run one.

I just wish they built that Mosquito frame in a 9mm.
I mighta mentioned that once or twice already..........
If I were to pick up another 9mm it would probably be a Smith M&P. My pard picked one up while we were on night shift together and we spent A LOT of time with it on the indoor range. It felt perfect and shot like a raped ape.
