    Default Kinzua Smallies

What kind of smallies get weighed in at the Zoo tourneys ? I've heard conflicting stories on Kinzua smallies.

    Action,

Not only are the stories conflicting, but so is the fish.

A tournament could range from averaging a pound a piece to 3 1/2 pounds a piece.

Depends on who's fishing it, and if the entire lake is open usually.

My first bass tourney I fished was the District championships a few years ago. I never fished like this before, and landed 3 fish for over 10 pounds and third place. My boater took second place, with a big fish of over 5 pounds.

The last few years my Fall fest tourney took over 14 pounds to win. I know our tourney record is 18.10 lb's for 5 fish back in 10/08, with a 4 1/2 lb smallie.

Fishing Pa waters you will catch a lot of barely legal fish.

PA waters a big bag will be 8-9 pds a big bag in the reservation would be 12-13 and up, tough fishing , way too many get caught and ate especially in PA.

Never fished a bass tourny on the Zoo but will confirm the two above testimonies from two experenced Zoo fisherman.
You will encounter the pig of pigs in the Reservation waters when it comes to bass. Boy some of the accidental catches of bass I've made over the years up north were most impressive.
Although, I have gotten into some real nice 2 1/2 to 4 pounders in PA in the early to mid fall in. generally using live bait those times. Very sparse though.
I have my own little world. But it's OK... They know me here
